The Problem

If you’ve ever tried to “forward press,” you know that you need to position your hands ahead of the ball for it to work — either at the address or at the moment of impact. It’s not an easy thing to learn or execute, but almost all the best golfers in the world do it because it helps them get their putts rolling faster and truer. Think of forward pressing like “hitting up” with your driver. With a forward shaft lean, it’s easier to create an upward putter swing at impact that encourages a faster forward ball roll (i.e. reduced skidding, backspin, etc.).

The Solution

Press Grips eliminate the need for golfers to consciously “forward press.” The forward lean of the putter shaft is established through the grip design, eliminating yet another variable in the putting stroke. We’re all about eliminating variables!

Works on Any Putter

Press Grips are just as beneficial with other putters as they are with L.A.B. Golf putters. With other putters, however, golfers may need to add loft to their putter to optimize ball roll because of the built-in forward press. A special benefit of using Press Grips on L.A.B. Golf putters is that they align the hands directly over the golf ball at address, a position that the majority golfers find most comfortable. This is unlike forward-pressing with other putters and putter grips, which requires golfers to position the hands ahead of the ball.

How It Works

Press Grips achieve what we call an “ Integrated Forward Press” through their design. Unlike other putter grips, which generally see the shaft travel through the center of their axis, Press Grips are installed through the grip’s elliptical shape, which is off-axis by either 1.5 degrees, 2 degrees, or 3 degrees depending on the model.

We recommend that golfers use 2-degree and 3-degree Press Grip models with our DF 2.1 putter. With our DF3, MEZZ.1 MAX, and MEZZ.1 putters, golfers will be happy with either a 1.5-degree or 2-degree Press Grip for a neutral hand position, or a 3-degree Press Grip if they like a little more shaft lean.

How Do I know If Its Working?

It’s actually quite obvious. Those putts you hit that bounce and skip and skid off the putter face and bound into the air? You’ll see a lot less of that with our grips. Maybe none at all.

And if you do continue to experience these issues, our team will jump on the phone and troubleshoot with you. It’s usually related to something minor (putter loft, hand position, ball position). You can drop us a line here.

What Model Is Right for Me?

Because the science behind each grip is the same, you really can’t go wrong. And because different golfers have different preferences, we offer multiple models with varying shapes, sizes, and weights.

Press Pistol 2 Degree

We’ve gotten to the point where we can try new things, and a traditional pistol shape was the first on our list. So if you like a traditional pistol grip, you’re going to love Press Pistol 2 Degree.

Press II 1.5

The Press II 1.5 uses a minimally tapered, smaller barrel shape with a 1-inch flat side down the center to make hand position easy and repeatable. The Press II 1.5 is also perfect for non-L.A.B. putters, although we’re not sure why you wouldn’t want to be using a putter that swings square all by itself. Just saying…

Press II 3 Degree

The Press II 3 (formerly the 2.M) was created for golfers who prefer a flat front on their putter grip to aid consistent hand position. Its minimally tapered, medium barrel shape promotes stability and the use of the larger muscles for more consistent performance. It makes it easier to feel the movement of the putter head during the stroke.

Created For: DF3, DF 2.1, MEZZ.1 MAX, MEZZ.1
Tilt: 3 degrees
Length: 10.5 inches
Weight: 78 grams
